Be there to experience top-notch science, engineering and technology, and a vibrant social programmme, at the Zambezi Sun Hotel, Livingstone, in beautiful Zambia, home of the magnificent Victoria Falls.
The IEEE Region 8 AFRICON 2011 Conference is co-sponsored by IEEE Zambia Section, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), and the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
VENUE
The Falls Resort & Convention Centre at the Zambezi Sun Hotel is located on the edge of the eastern cataract of the Victoria Falls, one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world, known to the local people as "Mosi-oa-Tunya" - the smoke that thunders. The Victoria Falls is 1708 m wide, making it the largest curtain of water in the world. It drops between 90 m and 107 m into the Zambezi Gorge at an average of 550 000 cubic meters every minute. The falls and the surrounding area have been declared National Parks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Animals such as elephant, giraffe, zebra, gnu, lion and leopard inhabit the forest and grasslands. The rock cliffs are home to falcons, eagles and vultures.
