BACKGROUND

Microsoft's Windows Embedded is a family of operating systems that offer familiar tools and software engineering technologies for developers to quickly bring the next generation of smart, connected, service-oriented devices to market. Windows Embedded features enable interoperability with industry standards and Microsoft technologies. Supporting a wide range of devices from small-footprint, real-time devices through industrial controllers, gateways and point-of-sale devices, to embedded servers, embedded operating systems provide improved security and reliability with reduced time-to-market, while enabling connectivity to PCs, services, servers and other devices.
