Indiana Wheat Acres Down, But Crop Right on Schedule
With the late harvest issues for Midwestern farmers last year, wheat production is down, but crop development is on track a Purdue University agronomist said.
"The wheat looks good so far this year," said Herb Ohm. "There is not as much wheat planted this year but the wheat that is planted looks fine."

Does "traveling" through time save energy? Is that lost hour of spring sleep really worth it? Where are the savings in Daylight Saving Time and would the Western world be better off dropping the whole thing and moving on with its life?

Late planting, cool summer temperatures, and a wet October caused the 2009 harvest to go down in history as one of the latest on record. As a result, many fields were not tilled last fall.University of Illinois Extension agronomist Emerson Nafziger says this will cause challenges this spring.

Mount Vernon refinery: open for business
After the construction of an ethanol biorefinery began in late 2007 work ceased a year later and Illinois-based Aventine Renewable Energy filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February 2009 but now things are changing.  The Posey County ethanol plant in Mount Vernon was near completion when the building work was forced to stop due to a rise in the cost of ethanol production. The prices of oil decreased as the prices of corn increased.
