On Sunday, July 24, the Kohl's stores in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo opened their doors early to allow local children the chance to shop for new back to school clothing.
Through the generous support of the San Luis Obispo County community, 202 K-12 grade students participated in KidSpree and were given a $100 gift card to shop with.
We had over 100 community members volunteer their time early in the morning to shop with the children and local Kiwanis Club members provided a delicious breakfast in both Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo.
We appreciate the assistance of the SLO County YMCA for providing free fingerprinting for all volunteers, and Lance Kinney and Paul Sittig who were the event photographers. Special thanks to the Kohl's sales associates that volunteered their time so early in the morning.
We would also like to thank the Kiwanis Club of SLO Morning, Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes and Santa Barbara Bank & Trust for each sponsoring 10 children, Running/Tennis Warehouse for sponsoring 30 kids and to Zurn Wilkins for their sponsorship of 40 children! Click

Stuff the Bus
From August 12-19th, our third annual Stuff the Bus event will be held at all three Office Max locations throughout the county. Volunteers are needed to collect new school supplies and, literally, stuff a big, yellow bus in Arroyo Grande, Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo. Collected donations will go towards helping support local teachers and students throughout our county as they begin the new school year.Click here for more information and to sign up as a volunteer or email us at stuffthebus@unitedwayslo.org . Hit & Giggle

United Way of SLO County is this year's Hit & Giggle host, continuing on a successful tradition established by local nonprofit, Women for Community. Over the past seven years, this golf tournament has raised thousands of dollars for local programs and we look forward to carrying on that legacy. Join us as a volunteer or golfer on Saturday, September 10 at Avila Beach Golf Resort for great food, fun and frolic!
In addition to a fabulous day of golfing, you can buy a raffle ticket for the Sip & Giggle Raffle. Only 150 raffle tickets are being sold. You could win 100 bottles of wine or lots of other great prizes.

Youth Board
2011- 2012
Applications are now available for this year's Youth Board. Click here to apply.
High school students from San Luis Obispo County serve on the board, and fulfill many of the same duties as the Board of Directors, most notably the distribution of grant funds for youth-serving projects and programs.
As Youth Board members, students learn about the community and some of the resources that are provided to our most vulnerable populations.
They are given the chance to make their voice heard on meaningful issues, as well as participate in organizational governance, connect with peers from outside their own school community, and network with the United Way Board of Directors and other involved community members, all while earning community service hours.
