BANKMission Cars

United Way staff Charlene Rosales and Rachel Cementina with Mark Fogarty and Christian Henderson from Mission Cars.
Mission Cars

Ever wanted to donate your car to a local charity? Mission Cars is here to do just that- assist people in donating their vehicles. They determine the value of the vehicle, do all the work of cleaning, advertising, showing, and selling it. After it sells, the organization of your choice will receive a check for half the net proceeds.

Recently, we referred a donor to Mission Cars, and once the car sold, they stopped by to bring us a check. Thank you to   Mark Fogarty, Christian Henderson and everyone at Mission Cars!

FamilyWizeFamilyWize Card Reaches Milestone
familywize
In partnership with close to 1,000 United Ways, FamilyWize passed their goal of saving $100 million on the cost of medicine for the uninsured and underinsured. In the last 18 months, San Luis Obispo County alone has saved over $285,000 using the FamilyWize card. Together, we have helped more than one million people get the medicine they need.

Congratulations again to all our wonderful United Way partners! For the past five years, the FamilyWize Partnership has been providing free prescription drug discount cards nationwide. On average, card users save about 38% on their prescriptions. Visit www.unitedwayslo.org to print an individual card, or contact Rachel Cementina if your agency would like to distribute a supply of cards. Plastic card holders are also available to contain and display cards.

Did you know... FamilyWize cards can be used for pet prescriptions, too?

Approximately 63.4 million people, or 26.8 percent of the population, volunteered through or for an organization in 2009 compared to 61.8 million in 2008. Find out how you can volunteer through our Opportunity Exchange, linked below.
