A Note From Steve mcShane!

Welcome to July !!!!

Warm weather has finally begun to arrive and with it huge opportunity to add immeasurable value to your life through "Love of the Landscape."

Here at McShane's that is our specialty.  We are a one stop shop for all things in the garden.  I'd encourage you to enjoy the patio, balcony or yard you spend so much money on as part of your monthly mortgage or rent.  Perhaps you need a professional design or coach?  We can help.  We have both interior and exterior professional designers. The truth is most people have little or no plans for their outdoor environment.

Even if a design is not in the cards this summer, small container gardens are worth considering.  They require little or no maintenance and are easy to assembly.  Perhaps you can pair herbs with some colorful flowers?  A small investment will render weeks of beauty and practical use in the kitchen.

There is nothing in the world that compares to California Living.  I embrace it daily and invite you to do the same as you enjoy this short newsletter chock-full of advice and helpful news to be your best in the garden.

Here's to the magic of summer!

Steve McShane

July Garden Tips

Pom Pom Flower

  • Now that summer is here remember to deep water mature fruit, citrus, or flowering trees.

  • Start gathering seeds to be planted and started for a fall harvest.

  • Soak new terracotta pots in water for 10 to 15 minutes before planting to help prevent the clay from absorbing moisture from the soil.

  • Cactus and suculents are a great choice for the forgetful or busy gardener. They require little attention and water, and they also container garden very well.

  • Remember to be fire safe!
