THURSDAY, August 7th 5- 7PM.
It is with great excitement that McShane's Nursery & Landscape Supply is announcing the DEDICATION of ANTOLINI ALLEY, our incredible outdoor stone & landscape display area. This event will feature local wines, food and entertainment. Please RSVP to Dan Casella at (831) 455-1369.
MORE ON ANTOLINI ALLEY:
STONE SPOTLIGHT: There are several displays worthy of attention in the new Antolini Alley. The following are just a few highlights:
1.) FIRE PIT HIGHLIGHTING MONTEREY CREAM - This unique creation comes to us thanks to Rossi Masonry. It features Monterey Cream Ledge Stone and Sonoran Gold Veneer Stone around the fire pit. The access is a giant block of Sonoran Gold Stone.
2.) RAISED PLATFORM FEATURING OCEAN PEARL - This is a platform featuring Ocean Pearl and Connecticut Blue Stone. The accents are Noyio Cobbles. The work is truly unique and shares the artistic style of local mason, Peter Eichorn.
3.) QUARTZITE WATER FEATURE - This is a one of a kind water feature brining to life several quartzites including Idaho, Sage and Sunset Gold Quartzites. The rim is finished with Honey Ledge Quartzite Veneer. Shadd Madsen was the mason on the job and his skill is evident in the veneer.
4.) DRY CREEKBED WITH SEATING WALL - The seating wall is made of Wolf Creek Stone. The creek bed and grasses show off the many ways that plants can be incorporated with stone in a very tasteful manner. The entire project was completed by Michael Heller.
Additional projects are still under construction and will feature the works of Terra Landscaping, Marcus Zelmon, Four Seasons Landscaping, The Landscape Company, Vista Landscaping, Fernandez Landscaping, Alfredo's Landscaping, Steve Gally, The Don Chapin Company and more. When complete, the entrance will feature an outdoor fireplace, pizza oven, BBQ station and a colored and stamped concrete display brought to us by TRC Construction.

CHILDRENS COMPOSTING WORKSHOP

McShane's is proud to welcome local composter, Jeanie Shults as she introduces kids and parents alike to the wonderful world of composting. Launched in February, our new pond and water gardening department continues to grow as we have  added additional fish to the department. Resident "Pond Champion," Matt Collins has taken up "fish whisperer" as part of his responsibilities. We now offer large Koi for sale! Matt's favorite variety is the Shubunken. What is a reasonably priced flagstone for completing my patio?
Without question, it is Arizona Stone. This is mainly because it is economically priced and comes in five differ colors: Peach, Buff, Oak, Rosa and Sedona Red. It also comes in two different sizes (patio and select). Buff or Rosa are the most popular. It is easy to clean and will keep up for decades. As a matter of fact, I have it in my yard!

My indoor Boston fern appears to have mealy bugs. I have other houseplants that have mites or aphids as well. What do you recommend? - Brian, Salinas
This sounds like just the case for use of some "All Seasons" horticultural oil. The oil suffocates and kills a wide range of indoor and outdoor insects when applied topically.
