Helpful Hints
Steve Steve's Tip of the Month
Spring is the time of year when
most people do their planting !!! This month's tip is to NEVER forget to use STARTER FERTILZER. Starter fertilizer provides a jump on new growth and helps plants get established faster and stronger. It also helps in providing immobile nutrients, like phosphorus and potassium, to the roots where they are needed. Here at McShane's we sell MASTER START in 5, 10 and 20 lb bags to help you. Also ask about our "Leap Start" fertilizer "singles." All you have to do is throw them in the hole and you're good!!! HAVE A GREAT SPRING !!!

Anthony's AdviceAnthony
What is "Good Soil" for planting? Also, this may sound
silly, but what is the difference between Annuals and Perennials? Lori, Pebble Beach

Lori, Potting mix needs to crumble when you squeeze it in your hand. If it clumps together, the roots will have a hard time getting through and the plant will eventually die. Our landscape department can customize the right soil for your garden. Annuals & perennials ...not a silly question! Many ask this! Annuals, are seasonal and usually live for a year, but around here with proper care they can last longer. Perennials, can live between 3 and 5 years with the right care.
Garden Pests
Sluggo Time to get rid of the SLUGS & SNAILS!
What to use? Sluggo brand works
great and is safe for the animals. We also carry Cooke Slug-N-Snail Granules and Master Nursery Snail & Slug.
