Silver Beaver AwardThe Silver Beaver Award is the highest honor a Boy Scout council can bestow on an adult volunteer leader. The award is recognition for outstanding service to Scouting and the community.

 

All are welcome to join us as we celebrate the outstanding service of 24 adult volunteers who will receive the Silver Beaver Award on Tuesday, May 31, during the Annual Meeting and Recognition Dinner at the St. Charles Convention Center.

Hours Extended On Saturday, May 30,

At West County For Camper Savings Day 

The West County Service Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, to serve units making Camper Savings Day payments. Fees for Webelos, Boy Scout and Venture summer camps are discounted if paid in full by May 2.

 

Prepare For Cub Scout Camp

Cub Adventure Camp LogoAn Adventure Camp experience can be the highlight of your Cub Scout's summer. A variety of exciting activities, such as archery, crafts, games and bb guns are offered at many camps.

Adventure Camp provides your den or pack with some flexibility in scheduling. There are day camps and evening camps. Two- and three-day camps are $45 per Scout.  Four- and five-day camps are $50 per Scout.

Grizzly Adventure Camp: Cub Scouts can attend as individuals or with friends from their den or pack during this camp at Camp Grizzly Cub World at Beaumont Scout Reservation. Two one-week sessions will be held, July 11-15 or July 18-22.

Keeping Campers Healthy

The BSA published an updated medical form for 2011. In order to provide better care for its members and to assist them in better understanding their own physical capabilities, the BSA recommends that everyone who participates in a Scouting event have an annual medical evaluation by a certified and licensed health-care provider--a physician (MD or DO), nurse practitioner or physician assistant. Training CoursesNYLT Game

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT): A week-long training course for youth leaders in Boy Scouts and Venturing.  

National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE): An advanced version of NYLT designed to provide youth with a wilderness encounter that internalizes skills learned at NYLT.

Wood Badge: Advanced training for adult leaders that's designed to enhance contemporary leadership skill and develop more effective Scouters.   

Leader Outdoor Experience: An overnight supplemental training for all leaders involved in the Cub Scout program.

First Aid Kits

Materials: Large empty plastic pill bottle or 35mm film canister, small bandages, sealed alcohol wipes and cotton balls.

Punch two holes in side of the bottle, put pipe cleaner through holes and secure by twisting inside, leaving enough on the outside for a belt loop or tie slide. Assemble and decorate with reflective tape, paint or pens.
