Greetings!

Adult volunteers and parents know the value of Scouting. We asked Scouts to tell us how they value Scouting as part of our annual Friends of Scouting campaign.

2011 Friends of Scouting VideoScouts shared their stories last fall at our council's camping facilities. This video can be part of your unit's Friends of Scouting presentation. Click here or on the graphic at the right to watch the video...

Camp Staff Reunion

Summer Camp EmblemAll past summer camp staff members, regardless of the camp where they worked, and their families are invited to attend a Camp Staff Reunion on Sept. 2-4 at the S bar F Scout Ranch. Renew friendships and take advantage of many outdoor activities, such as swimming, shooting and rock climbing. The weekend will culminate with a dinner and campfire show on Saturday evening.

The first planning meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the MacArthur Service Center. Anyone interested in helping staff this event is welcome to join us.

Locating camp staff from the past century is a challenge.  If you know of former staff members, please send their contact information, including e-mail address to: campstaffreunion@stlbsa.org. Please include camps and years worked if known. We'll make sure that they receive invitations and information as it develops.

Philmont 2012

There will be five Council Contingents attending the Philmont Scout Ranch in 2012. The lottery deadline for attending in one of these contingents is Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011.

Cub Scout Game
Leader Tip:
Alien Egg Game

Supplies: An alien egg (ball about the size of a volleyball covered with aluminum foil).

Divide the boys into pairs. Tell them that you have been given an alien egg. The egg cannot be moved from place to place unless it is carried between the heads of two people. The egg is unique in this way because it must be in contact with human brain waves while it is in motion or the baby alien inside might get upset, break open the egg, and eat the carpeting. The object is for each pair to crawl sideways, with the egg between their heads, to the end of the playing area and back. They must then exchange the egg with the next pair in line without using their hands.
