Archery at Adventure Camp
Newly recruited Cub Scouts and parents can get their first Scouting experience at "A Taste of Scouting" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, at Beaumont Scout Reservation.

New Cub Scouts can spend the day at the archery range, cross a monkey bridge, build crafts, climb aboard a pirate ship and do many other fun activities. Come and go as you like. The cost is $5 per Scout. There's no charge for parents, other adults or siblings and you may bring a picnic lunch.

Help us welcome our new Scouts, parents and leaders. Let's give them a first impression of Scouting they will always treasure.

Thank you for helping us deliver a safe, fun and high-quality Scouting program.

and third graders often delay joining until their son is settled in school. We've witnessed fourth and fifth graders joining because they're no longer involved in sports or other activities and see their friends enjoying outdoor adventures.

School Night to Join Scouting is your your unit's opportunity to welcome new Scouts, parents and leaders. Several new or revised resources are available for this year's campaign:

Beascout.org: This website allows prospective members to enter their address, zip code and view a map with Scout units in their geographic area. Units can customize information on this map! Learn more by downloading the Be A Scout Unit Guide (3MG PowerPoint).

School Night PowerPoint (3MG):
With a projector, screen, laptop and this presentation, you're ready to provide a high-quality orientation for your new parents and leaders.

Parent's Orientation Guide (PDF): Each unit will receive a quantity of these booklets to help new parents become familiar with your unit and the Scouting program.

Program Planning
Is Key To Fun, Learning

Program Preview Guide-2010-11A Scout's dream of fun and adventure won't come true without unit leaders planning those activities. Taking time to develop a year of activities creates a vision of success and generates enthusiasm. Distribute your calendar to current and prospective parents of Scouts.
Put your unit in high gear for the program year. Gather your key leaders and plan your activities. Download the Council's 2010-2011 Program Guide (PDF) for calendars, program and facility information.
