Friends of Scouting Wrapping Up The Council's annual fundraising campaign concludes next week. Friends of Scouting provides 29 percent of the Council's funding. Last week, the Family Friends of Scouting campaign surpassed its goal. We thank all who participated and helped our Scouting programs continue to help our youth members.
Do you know someone who benefited from Scouting as a youth? Do you know a former leader or a parent of a Scout who had an outstanding Scouting experience? You're welcome to forward this message to them with your personal invitation to become a Friend of Scouting.
Thank you for delivering the promises of Scouting to tens of thousands of youth members throughout our council.

Leader Tip:
Make A Banjo Box
Materials: Shoe box, scissors, rubber bands, pencils Cut a hole in the top of a box. Tape the top to the box. Stretch several rubber bands around the box and over the hole. Try rubber bands of different sizes and thicknesses. Slip a pencil under the rubber bands at each end. As different sizes of bands are used with different degrees of tightness, the resulting sounds will be different. Give the Cub Scouts plenty of opportunity to experiment before they settle on the sounds they want for their banjos. Source: Cub Scout Program Helps, May, 2010 (PDF)
