Plan For Cub Adventure Camp
What does nearly every Cub Scout like? Creepy, crawly creatures! The theme for Cub Scout Adventure Camps is "Bugs, Slugs and Venus Flytraps!" Two- and three-day Adventure Camps are $45 per Scout. Four- and five-day Adventure Camps are $50 per Scout. Scouts can save $5 if fees are paid before Camper Savings Day, May 1. Packs are encouraged to register as a group instead of submitting many individual registrations. Read more... National Features Three Council Stories
The Greater St. Louis Area Council is featured prominently on Scouting.org:
Value of Scouting: The photo essay and interviews tell the story of how the Scouting for Food Good Turn started in our council. It was produced during last year's collection day.
Report to the Nation: Jack O'Neill, National Chief of the Order of the Arrow, and Amanda Vogt, National Venturing President, are both from our council and presented the BSA's Annual Report to President Barack Obama and other top government officials.
Cubcast: The March Cubcast (podcast) has a feature on how special needs children can participate and thrive in Scouting. Jane Grossman, a longtime member of the council's special needs committee, is interviewed. |
Leader Tip:
Tiger Cub Game: Guess What?
Materials: Paper or plastic bag that cannot be seen through; a variety of small tools that are used in different professions: plastic toy hammer, child's small sand rake, calculator, test tube, miniature schoolbook, etc. Have all of the items in the bag. One at a time, Tiger Cubs reach in without looking in the bag and pull out the first item they touch. Have them tell of a career that would use the item (there may be multiple careers that use the same item). Other boys may add to the discussion. Continue until all Tiger Cubs have had a chance to participate.
