The Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, is a United Way agency.

United Way
Greetings!

Scouting helps make young people better citizens.  This year, the Friends of Scouting campaign will help make units even stronger by helping them recognize youth members who are learning and growing.

Friends of ScoutingFriends of Scouting, the council's annual fundraising campaign, provides almost 30 percent of the council's annual operating budget. In light of the present economic conditions, the council decided to take a positive approach that rewards packs, troops and crews for a successful Friends of Scouting campaign.

Units that welcome a Friends of Scouting presentation and meet or exceed both a dollar and participation goal will be recognized with free rank advancement badges for an entire year. Read more on free rank advancement requirements...

FOS Video GraphicA six-minute Friends of Scouting video is available that simplifies your unit's presentation and tells the Scouting story. Your presenter can assist you with audio/visual resources to play the DVD. (Click here or on the graphic to watch the video on YouTube.)

If your unit would like to participate and help our Council continue to succeed, please contact your district executive or Brian Sens, finance director, at (314) 256-3012.

Thanks for all you do to make Scouting possible in our community.

Leader Tip:
ABC Race
Cub Scout Game
Materials: For each player, one soda straw and one large letter (A, B, C, etc.) cut from tissue paper.
Give each player a straw and a letter. Divide the players into teams and line each team up in a single-file relay line. The first player in each line draws his breath through the straw to hold the letter against the end of the straw. Then he runs to a goal line and deposits the letter on a chair or the floor. He runs back and tags the next player. The first team to get all its letters to the finish line is the winner. If a letter is dropped en route, the player must stop and pick it up using the suction method-no hands!
Parent Tip:
