Greetings!,

During this Thanksgiving holiday, we pause to reflect on the gifts and blessings that you and all the adult volunteer leaders who serve Scouting provide to our community, nation and world.

We are grateful for the time you spend teaching and guiding young people.

We are appreciative of your willingness to share your talents to maintain or enhance unit, district and council programs.

We are thankful to you and thousands of other people who financially support Scouting through gifts to Friends of Scouting and the United Way.

On behalf of our entire Scouting community, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.

Summer Camp EmblemApplications Accepted For Summer Camp Staff
The success of your second-year Webelos den or troop's week at summer camp is many times determined by the quality of the staff serving you.  If you have a Scout in your troop who will be 15 years old and an Eagle Scout by June 1 of the camp year--and who you believe would make a good staff member--encourage him to apply for staff.  Also, Explorers and Venturers (male and female) will be interviewed for positions at the Swift Base.  Camp staff members also have the opportunity to earn college scholarships ranging from $250 to $1,250 on a yearly basis.

Rechartering Through Internet
Saves Time
A web-based software application designed to make the unit charter renewal process more efficient and accurate is now available. Effective immediately, all units must recharter using the Boy Scouts of America's Internet Rechartering website. Many districts are reserving computer labs at schools and holding a special event to assist units in completing Internet rechartering for the first time. Leader Tip:
Light Bulb Slide
Cub Scout Game
Materials: Large buttons or cutouts shaped like holiday lights, ½-inch PVC pipe, glue.
Glue the light-shaped button to the PVC pipe for an easy neckerchief slide. Holiday buttons and trinkets are found in many shapes this time of year. Add a length of PVC pipe, and you have an instant neckerchief slide.
