The Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, is a United Way agency.

United Way
Greetings!

The largest canned-food drive in the Boy Scouts of America takes place in our Council. Scouting for Food annually collects approximately 2 million canned goods.

Scouts will distribute more than 1.3 million bags on Saturday, Nov. 10.  They will return the following Saturday, Nov. 17, to collect bags filled with canned goods.

Leaders should be helping their unit prepare for Scouting for Food by doing the following:
  1. Make sure your unit is signed up to participate.  (Check with your committee chairman or top unit leader to see if a commitment card was turned in to the Council's Activities Service.)
  2. Make sure your unit received bags to distribute.
  3. Make sure your unit has its assigned territory and that all streets are assigned to dens or patrols.
Food collected during Scouting for Food provides more than a three-month supply of nutritious canned goods to more than 400 food pantries throughout our Council.

Thanks to all leaders who fulfill Scouting's promise in our communities.

Camp Masters Popcorn Makes Fundraising Easy
One annual fundraiser can adequately fill your unit's Campmaster Logobank account so leaders, members and parents can spend more time on fun programs and activities. The Council's popcorn sale eliminates risk and excess inventory associated with other product sales. Web-based ordering saves time. Camp Master's sales incentive program eliminates the task of ordering prizes. Read more...

Volunteers Needed For St. Louis Blues' Shoot Against Hunger

The St. Louis Blues are partnering with the Greater St. Louis Area Council in a Shoot Against Hunger.  Approximately 40 Scout volunteers--age 11 and older--are needed to help collect non-perishable food and cash donations before the Saturday, Nov. 3, game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Any fan who donates will have the chance to go down onto the ice to take a shot on goal after the game.  Shoot Against Hunger will kick off the Greater St. Louis Area Council's Scouting for Food Campaign. All donations will benefit the St. Louis Area Foodbank.

Boy Scouts are encouraged to volunteer and will be paired with an adult. Volunteers must be able to arrive by 5:45 p.m. Volunteers do not need a ticket and will be able to watch the game from the Top Shelf area on the mezzanine level after the first intermission. (Parking is not provided.)  For more information or to volunteer please call Ashley Green with the St. Louis Blues at (314) 589-5998. Leader Tip:
Sheep and Sheep Dogs Game
Cub Scout Game Play this game in a large room or outside. Two or three boys are sheep dogs, and the rest of the boys and adult partners are sheep. Blindfold the sheep. They spin in place a few times so they are disoriented. Dogs need to guide the sheep to a designated area, such as the opposite side of the room, only by barking. They are not allowed to touch the sheep. Boys take turns being sheep dogs. Note: One adult should remain out of the game to ensure the safety of the players.
Parent Tip:
