Courses Set For Leaders, Venturers
A variety of training events are scheduled to help leaders and parents provide a fun, exciting and memorable program for their youth members. Here's what's coming up:
Venturing: Training for leaders and youth members covering a wide range of  topics will be conducted during the Fall Fun Rally, Sept. 14-16, at Beaumont Scout Reservation. More...
Did you know?
The Boy Scout Leader Training course offered during summer camp at Camp Lewallen and the S bar F Ranch was completed by 138 leaders. The number was three times higher than expected. We appreciate all of the training staff members who made these courses possible. |

Complete two important steps after School Night to Join Scouting and watch your new Scouts, parents and leaders participate at full speed:
1. Help Your Leaders Get Trained: Visit the BSA's new Online Learning Center ( http://olc.scouting.org) for Fast Start Training and Youth Protection Training. Visit the Council's Training section of the website for upcoming courses, or contact your unit commissioner, district training chairman or district executive for assistance.
2. Experience The Program: Get everyone involved in an outdoor activity, field trip or other program as soon as possible. New Cub Scouts and their families are invited to attend Taste of Scouting on Oct. 6 at Beaumont Scout Reservation.

Boy Scout Summer Camp Lottery Deadline: Oct. 3
Boy Scout troop leaders are receiving materials for the 2008 summer camp lottery. The deadline for entering is Oct. 3 for the lottery on Oct. 15.

100th Anniversary Celebration
Be part of history! Particpate in the National Council's 100th Anniversary logo contest. It's open to all registered Scouts. Entries are due by Nov. 30, 2007.

| Leader Tip:
Drive The Pig To The Fair Game
Put a little water in a one-liter soda bottle for ballast. In turn, each member of the den or patrol uses a broom stick to push the bottle (pig) to the end of the room (fair) and runs back with the equipment.
