07-08 Program Guide Cover
Completing three tasks in August and September can put your Scout unit in high gear for the program year.
 
1. Plan Your Unit's Program: Gather your key leaders and plan your activities for the year. Click on the Council's 2007-08 Program Guide for calendars, program and facility information. Distribute the plan to current and prospective parents of Scouts.
 
2. Recruit New Youth Members, Leaders: Nothing builds enthusiasm and momentum better than a  successful School Night to Join Scouting. (See below.)
 
3. Plan A Successful Fundraiser: Selling Campmaster Popcorn can provide your unit with the funds necessary for a succesful program. (See below.)
 
Unit commissioners and council staff are ready to assist you. Thanks in advance for all you do to develop character and leadership in our youth members.

Selling Popcorn Enhances Unit Finances, Makes Fundraising Easy
One annual fundraiser can adequately fill your unit's Campmaster Logobank account so leaders, members and parents can spend more time on program. The Council's popcorn sale eliminates risk and excess inventory associated with other product sales. Web-based ordering saves time. Fall Fun Rally Set For
Sept. 14-16 At Beaumont
 
The Fall Fun Rally is a weekend of fun and excitement for all Venturing crews, youth and adults at Beaumont Scout Reservation. You may choose to sleep in tents for the weekend or participate as a Saturday event only. Programs include ropes course, iron chef, beach volleyball, shooting sports, mud cave, horseback riding, GPS geo-cache and more! Read more...

Grants Available For Youth Service Projects
The Walt Disney Company and Youth Service America are making grants of up to $500 to support youth-led service projects. These grants support youth (ages 5-14) in planning and implementing service projects in their community. Leaders, youth leaders and youth-serving organizations are also eligible to apply, provided that they that engage younger youth (5-14) in planning and implementing the service. Service can take place between Oct. 1 and Nov. 26, 2007. Projects can address themes such as the environment, disaster relief, public health and awareness, community education, hunger, literacy, or any issue that youth identify as a community need.
