 | | A Dream Come True! |
Happy August! I hope your July was filled with laughter, community and blessings. Looking back on the last month, what was the most amazing moment you experienced? What made it so special? What were the gifts and lessons contained within it?
As I mentioned in last month's Rose Report, I had a huge opportunity to deliver a snippet of my presentation on the big stage at the National Speakers Association's annual convention in Indianapolis. While I didn't win the "So You Think You Can Speak?" competition (boo!), I was thrilled with the magic that ensued as a result. Within 72 hours of presenting "GET BIG" to over a thousand people, I had the following things take place:
A woman in the hotel gym saw me hoopdancing at 5:30am and wants to hire me for an executive retreat in a swanky spa in Montana.
A friendship and business connection began in the same hotel gym with the incredibly successful keynoter and kindred spirit, Kevin Bracy. It is almost certain that Kevin and I will be working together someday on some juicy project. He, like me, believes that we can help change the world by helping people to tap into their own unlimited power.
An ad hoc coaching session took place in the hotel Starbucks with a man in the inner circle of Stephen Covey who gave me invaluable advice on how to transform the teachings of HoopWoman into a movement.
Engaging meals, coffees, cocktails and hallway chats with new and existing speaker friends from both near and far. Every day people would stop me and congratulate me for doing such a great job at the competition, which helped me to cultivate an enormous amount of relationships.

Indianapolis was the place where I played out the paradox of Victimhood/Power that is resident within me. When I didn't win the competition, I was filled with bitterness, disappointment, and sadness. (This was after I had publicly proclaimed that it was just an honor to be a finalist. Yeah, right. Who was I kidding?) In fact, I tearfully recorded an episode of "The HoopWoman Diaries" while in the throes of my victimhood drama. However, I also took the moment to dive into my heart and humbly ask Spirit to help me through it and see the gifts. Within twelve hours of asking for help, the magic listed above began to take place. When Spirit knocked on my head at 5:00am the next day and told me to get my butt to the gym, I obliged. (Believe me, I am NOT a 5:00am at the gym kind of gal.) In short, I followed every sign given to me and trusted that the gifts of the week would open up naturally. The next day, I recorded a second diary where I let go of the funk and fell back into gratitude where I belonged. The NSA convention was a turning point for me. It was a point in time where I recognized that I AM HoopWoman in all her big, beautiful glory. I AM destined for great things in this world. I AM ready to accept the bounties that are heading my way. I AM!!!

Under the Dome
My next Celebration Service at LHSC will be on Sunday, August 5th from 10:30am-11:30am. My services have been full of timely messages, profound meditation, and even a little pre-service spirit hooping! If you are unable to attend in person but want to check out my last service, visit the LHSC YouTube channel. Due to the busy summer season, there will not be a "Sitting in Sacred Circle with Theresa Rose" this month. Our next gathering will be Wednesday, September 5th at 7:00pm. The suggested donation is $5 or more, and I recommend that you wear comfortable clothing. Feel free to bring a drum and sacred object for our altar too!

Stuff I Love
I have recently been given the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors for the National Speakers Association-Minnesota Chapter. In my role, I am serving as the Director of the Institute of Professional Speaker Development (IPSD), a program that provides education and guidance for individuals to begin or advance their professional speaking businesses. I'm so impressed by the IPSD and really looking forward to not only directing the program, but also being one of the facilitators for the Graduate program.
The IPSD is a perfect solution for Midwesterners who are interested in becoming a speaker but don't know how to get there. The IPSD curriculum explores all elements of a successful speaking career, including topic development, business planning, marketing, products, and much more. The best part about the IPSD is that we get the best-of-the-best NSA speakers to share their pearls of wisdom with students every month! There is an informational session coming up on Thursday, August 9th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at Chevy's near the Mall of America for people who want to learn more about this exciting program. If you know of anyone who wants to pursue a speaking career, please let them know of this great opportunity!
