Greetings!
Welcome to June! I hope you are enjoying the emergence of Summer and finding some quality time to spend outdoors with those you love. What a magical time of year it is.
As I mentioned in last month's Rose Report, this time of the year is a peak season in my speaking business. As such, I am driving, running, flying and hooping from engagement to engagement, all the while trying to practice what I preach. I must admit that it can be difficult to manage all of the competing priorities surrounding me. A typical day involves traveling to venues, speaking in front of wonderful groups, emailing clients and attendees, calling prospective clients, making hoops, writing GET BIG: The HoopWoman's Guide to Living Freely and Fully, volunteering at Lake Harriet Spiritual Community and the National Speakers Association, mentoring my spiritual ministry students, processing finances, and a multitude of other tasks that a business owner manages. Oh yeah. I have a husband and daughter too. It makes me tired just thinking about it.
The message I have been receiving from Spirit is about healthfully integrating my business. One night when I was unable to sleep due to dozens of to-do's rolling around in my melon, I asked Spirit for a way to handle all of it. (Truth be told, I was doing more complaining than asking.) The response I got was clear -- stop kvetching about being so busy, because I'm giving you what you asked for, dummy! Through my meditation, Spirit told me that I had wanted more business, and that's exactly what is being delivered to me: more busi-ness. I am busy. Really freakin' busy. Ha ha. The joke is on me. I've gotten my wish.
So, instead of complaining about how much I have to do (which I don't have to do any of), I sink into gratitude and declare to the Universe, "Thank you, thank you, thank you! I deserve it! Send me more!" (This powerful mantra is courtesy of the great thought leader, Anodea Judith.) I am trying not to bristle at yet-another task and welcome it instead. Successful people are busy people. They aren't sitting around waiting for the phone to ring or opportunities to suddenly emerge from the ether. They work at it by plowing through tasks, building relationships, and finding more ways to get from point A to point B. In short, they have embraced busi-ness as a part of their lives.
When I am under the wave, the hoop is my portal out. By moving my body in joy, tapping into my Spirit, and letting my mind take a mini-vacay, I can restore my energy to be used in other areas. It seems antithetical, but the more I expend physical energy, the more energy I have for other pursuits. Dancing in my hoop brings me into awareness of the many gifts my life already contains and puts me smack-dab into a pool of bliss. By eliminating distractions and focusing only on those things that are the most important (hooping included), I am slowly but surely integrating with my busi-ness.
If you are like me and have more to do than time to do it, I encourage you to join me in finding time every single day to do something - anything - that brings you great joy. It is even more effective when that something involves moving your body. You will discover hidden reserves of juju that is just waiting to be utilized! Even if you add just one five-minute walk a day, you will find that the mental break will bring you back into balance and remind you that we are meant to be happy, even when we are busier than a one-armed paper hanger.
As always, I am grateful for your support and wish you a month of bliss, beauty, and balance. Life is Divine, and so are you.
Take care, and MAKE it a wonderful month!
In joy,
Theresa
PS: Welcome to my newest friends from IAAP-Texas/Louisiana Division, Minnesota Primary Care Nurses, Productive Alternatives, and the Minnesota Bankers Assocation! It was so much fun meeting you in April and I look forward to our continued relationship.
