Greetings!
How was your March? I hope you are enjoying the blossoming of the Spring season! Here in Minnesota we didn't really have a Winter, so it's kind of odd to be seeing the budding green on the trees without ever seeing much white on the ground before it. I am trying to stay solely in the gratitude vibration without feeding the sinking feeling I have about the long-term implications of our dramatic weather changes.
Now that Spring is officially here, I find that life is mirroring the season. I am well past the quiet introspective hibernation the holidays and new year bring to me, and I have invited a quicker, louder, more active life to take its place. My calendar is getting fuller, my to-do lists are getting longer, and my suitcase is getting filled and emptied more regularly. With this change comes an opportunity for me -- and all of us -- to embrace the rate of change and ride the increasingly fast current that life is bringing.
If I don't prioritize taking care of myself when things get busy, I will invariably either get sick or turn into a raving loony. Yes, I would love to be taking luxurious spa vacations or receiving bodywork on a regular basis, but the budget doesn't allow for those yummy options at the moment. Instead, I have chosen to create my very own Rose Stay-at-Home Spa and Retreat Center. It is a special place within my own heart where I can recharge my batteries, reinforce my dreams, and remember who I am.
It is truly amazing what a few simple changes can do for one's outlook! I go from screaming mimi to chilled-out zen queen in no time by adopting these few simple practices:
- Soak in an Epsom salt lavender bath with some peaceful music playing and candles burning (A glass of Malbec is optional but highly recommended!)
- Practice gentle yoga postures for a half-hour or so and follow it up with a ten-minute meditation on gratitude
- Energize my soul with a spirited session with my frame drum
- Free my fear by courageously hooping to my favorite tunes
- Turn off the electronics and crack open a book (remember those things?)
- Go for a walk around one of the many beautiful lakes nearby
- Do anything that brings me joy, even if it is just for a few moments
Joy is a powerful medicine, and it is especially helpful when things get busier and your world starts to feel too full. Joy makes space for other things to come in. Joy reminds you of what is truly important instead of the next entry in the calendar. Joy is an expression of the Divine at Play. Experiencing Joy should be the #1 thing on each of our lists, every single day. Won't you join me in making this a priority? Let's watch what sort of magic takes place when we value ourselves enough to enjoy the ride.
As always, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, and I hope that your April is showered with happiness and abundance.
Take care, and make it a wonderful month!
Many blessings,
Theresa

Around Town
I have been spending the last six glorious Tuesday evenings at improvisation class, courtesy of Stevie Ray's Improv Company. I instantly fell in love with the process and enjoy everything about it -- even the gut-wrenching, nerve-wracking, knee-buckling moments when you don't know what you are going to say next.
On Sunday, April 15th at 4:00pm, our little class will be having our recital for friends and family. If you are in the Twin Cities area and want to have some fun, come back and see us perform! Tickets are $5 at the door, and reservations are not required. Stevie Ray's Comedy Cabaret is located in the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre building and is a wonderful little venue. Food and drinks will be available as well. I hope to see you there! Wish us luck...

Under the Dome

My next Celebration Service at LHSC will be on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 from 10:30am-11:30am. I am no longer identifying the topic ahead of time, so you'll have to just show up to see what the message will be! I am sure it will be a doozy, as I will have just returned from a weekend of mentoring for the ministerial training program at the Center for Sacred Studies. I hope you will join us at LHSC! If you are unable to attend in person but want to check out my last service, visit the LHSC YouTube channel. On Wednesday, April 4th at 7:00pm, I'll be hosting my ongoing intimate spiritual dialogue and ceremony series called "Sitting in Sacred Circle with Theresa Rose". The suggested donation is $5 or more, and I recommend that you wear comfortable clothing. Feel free to bring a drum and sacred object for our altar too!

Stuff I Love
I found a new yoga instructor in Minneapolis that I absolutely LOVE. Her name is Lynn Shuck, and she is a certified Eischens Yoga instructor. I bet you are thinking, "What the heck is Eischens yoga? Never heard of it!" Well, that was my reaction too. It turns out that it is a relatively new form of yoga that combines Hatha yoga asanas with more of a physical therapy approach. You move in and out of each posture very slowly and deliberately, and props help maintain ideal alignment. In addition, the instructor provides resistance so you can fire up the exact muscles that need to be strengthened.
If you are in the Twin Cities area, consider taking one of Lynn's classes (one is at LHSC on Tuesdays at 9:30am!) or better yet, spring for a few private sessions with her. Her email is yogamom.ls@gmail.com. Lynn is helping me strengthen my legs so I can improve my hooping, and I have already noticed a marked improvement based on the few sessions I have had with her. If you have any pain or limited range of motion, I highly recommend you checking her out! If you are not in the Twin Cities area, you can Google it to see if there are any Eischens Yoga instructors in your neck of the woods.
Stretch that bod!
