As Chairman of the Board for AIDS Service Center (ASC), Happy New Year!
Like many of you, I use the first weeks in January to reflect on the year recently passed and to focus on ways to improve the year just begun. The directors have challenged the organization to do the same. I am very excited and proud to say that they have exceeded our expectations!
Looking back on 2011 I am very proud of the role we played in serving the HIV/AIDS community throughout all of Los Angeles County. I am reminded of the work we have done for children born with HIV to those in our community who are undocumented or to those who live so far below the poverty line they cannot afford medical care. I am also reminded of the 230 children who are our clients, one-third of which are HIV positive. These are people in our community who need our support. With the help of donors like you, as well as our amazing staff and volunteers, I can confidently say that we made a real and important difference in 2011.
In planning for 2012, ASC's 25th anniversary, we purposefully challenged ourselves to come up with substantive ways to continue to improve the services we provide to our clients. We came up with an idea - access to medical care - that is so clearly in our clients' best interest that we have already devoted substantial time and energy into implementing it! In 2012, we at ASC are committed to ensuring that our clients have access to medical care in the same one-stop-shopping fashion as with all of the other services they have come to depend upon. As you can see, this will be a busy and exciting year for ASC as we plan for new ways to meet client needs without sacrificing quality services. Please know that we are committed to keeping you informed about these exciting changes as we move forward.
We are a vibrant and strong group here at ASC. We are here to stay in your community with your assistance.
