On Sunday July 4th, Sono Sato Harris (October 17, 1954 - July 4, 2010) passed from this life into the presence of the Lord. She was joyful with anticipation of seeing the Lord, even though she endured much pain at the end of her struggle with cancer. She passed peacefully while in the company of her family. (Listen to an online recording of Sono speaking on "Transitions," dealing with trials and suffering.)
In 1974 Gregg and Sono Harris were led by God to take what they believed to be a more biblical approach to marriage, family life and child training. As a gifted communicator, Gregg helped to launch the Christian home-schooling movement in the early 1980s. (Read more about the Harris family history online. Also please note: All remaining Raising Kids to Do Hard Things seminars are on hold until further notice.) Thank you for your continuing prayers on behalf of Gregg and children Josh, Joel, Alex, Brett, Sarah, Isaac, and James. Cards, notes and financial gifts may be sent directly to the Harris family at their home: The Gregg Harris Family, 6920 SE Hogan Rd., Gresham OR 97080. From Gregg Harris On behalf of our whole family, I would like to express our thanks for the many prayers and generous acts of kindness, love, and support extended to our family during this trying time. God is good, and His grace is sustaining us. The Lord has encouraged our family with these verses from II Corinthians 4:16 - 5:9. "So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. "For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened – not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. "He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. "Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him."
