Leslie Reynolds for San Jose City Council
|
| Leslie Reynolds wants to put her community and school board experience to use serving the City of San Jose. She is running for the District 10 seat on the San Jose City Council.
Currently Reynolds is completing her second term as Trustee of the San Jose Unified School District, which serves 33,000 students and is the largest school district in Santa Clara County.
Her School Board unanimously elected Leslie President in 2009, when she was also the President of the Santa Clara County School Boards Association. She was elected as Delegate to the California School Boards Association, where she became a Federal and State Governmental Relations Chair.
Leslie Reynold's mission as a Council Member includes: restoring police and fire services, eliminating barriers for businesses in San Jose, balancing the City Budget, and providing tax dollar accountability.
She will also work to capitalize on her relationships with the public schools to form powerful partnerships to combat gangs, vandalism and graffiti. She will continue her policy of accessibility as an elected representative.
San Jose's District 10 includes Almaden Valley and Blossom Valley, an area relatively favorable to GOP candidates. As a school board member, Leslie already represents most of the council district (and quite a bit more area). See the district map here.
Leslie grew up in the Bay Area and has been a San Jose resident for more than 27 years. Her interests in serving the community began as a student in high school, where she held leadership roles in clubs, on sport teams and in student government.
She held several managerial positions at a large software subsidiary of General Electric, prior to her becoming a full time mother. Tapping into her leadership skills, but still committed to raising her two children, Leslie volunteered in her community, at her church and at her children's schools.
She was elected to the position of PTA Vice President of Volunteers at Williams Elementary, and simultaneously served as President of the School Site Council and President of the San Jose Unified Council of PTAs.
Leading by example, she garnered the title of Volunteer of the Year at Williams Elementary School for four years, donating over 1,000 hours of work per school year. Leslie also was instrumental in retooling the San Jose Unified Budget Advisory Committee, while serving on the District's Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee.
Leslie is married with a son in college and a daughter who is a senior in high school. Both children attended San Jose Unified schools. Leslie and her family live in Almaden Valley.
See the events featuring Leslie on May 10 and in the Calendar section on May 5. Find out more about Leslie on her campaign website.

June Primary Election Highlights
In just a few days voters will begin receiving their absentee ballots and voting will begin for the June primary. There are a number of important elections that will be determined in June, and we have highlighted races where your support and involvement can make a difference. Yes on San Jose Measure B is probably the most important item on the Bay Area's June Ballot. This innovative approach to controlling pension costs could be the model for a statewide solution. Candace Andersen for Contra Costa County Supervisor is a great opportunity to elect a Republican to the Board of Supervisors. Candace is currently the Mayor of Danville and she will advocate for needed fiscal reform on the County Board. Leslie Reynolds for San Jose City Council District 10 is featured in the accompanying article. She will be a great partner for Republican Pete Constant on the San Jose City Council. In addition, there are four other City Council races in San Jose where no Republicans are running. I urge you to vote for those candidates who support San Jose Measure B if you live in one of those districts. On a personal note, I want to let you know that I am a candidate for Republican County Central Committee in Santa Clara County Supervisorial District 5. I would respectfully ask for your vote if you live in that district. Santa Clara County residents can check out the list of recommended Central Committee Candidates here. They have worked hard for the Republican Party, support our focus on pension reform, and deserve to be members of the Central Committee. Links to our Republican Legislative and Congressional candidates can be found on our Candidates page. Thank you for all you do for our party. |
