Mike Hudson for Assembly District 11

Mike Hudson
As he runs for the state assembly, Solano County's Mike Hudson brings with him his broad experience in business, in government, and in the military.

Mike Hudson currently serves as Vice Mayor of Suisun City, on the Delta beside Fairfield.  He was elected to the Suisun City Council in 2006 with a  campaign focused on fixing streets and balancing the budget.

He won reelection in November of 2010 and was elected by his peers to serve as Vice Mayor of Suisun City.  His priorities are public safety and a balanced budget.

Hudson says that "California has lost its way. Our area and the (Sacramento River) delta have been particularly hard hit.  We need to get California back on track.  We need to promote job growth and not just government jobs.  I know that if we work together we can find common sense solutions that will make us safer, stronger and more prosperous."

Earlier in life Hudson had served in the United States Naval Submarine Service for over ten years.  He was responsible for the installation, maintenance, programming, and repair of all electronic equipment including computers and networks.

Mike was honorably discharged and is a decorated veteran of the first Gulf War.  He subsequently worked providing network and computer security consulting services to a number of major U.S. companies.

Mike Hudson founded his business, Hudson Business Networks, over 10 years ago.  They specialize in design and development of the best websites and provide contractual based computer maintenance for their clients.

Assembly District 11 is the heart of the Delta, including part of Solano County, northeastern Contra Costa County, and a little bit of Sacramento County.  The largest cities are Fairfield, Vacaville, and Antioch.  See the district map.

Mike will be having an event at the Jelly Belly factory with Assembly Republican Leader Connie Conway on March 7.  (See the Event list.)  More information about Mike's campaign is available on the campaign website at www.mikehudson2012.com .

CRP Convention: Conway, Huff and McCarthy Lead the Way

California Republican Party delegates and leaders responded to requests from Republican Legislative Leaders Connie Conway and Bob Huff and GOP House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy to focus on winning elections.

Your Right to Vote

The most contentious issue of the convention was resolved when the CRP Rules Committee heeded requests from Republican elected officials, Republican County Chairs, College Republican chapter presidents, military voting rights advocates, Carly Fiorina, our CRP Chair and others to postpone consideration of changes to the proxy system until the next convention and take further input.

Furthermore, the CRP passed a resolution asking the CRP Chairman and our newly re-elected National Committeeman and Committeewoman to support the adoption of a Rule guaranteeing the right of military service men and women to vote in the selection of presidential delegates.

Krick Elected Vice Chair of CCA

Congratulations to Marin GOP Chair Kevin Krick, who was elected Vice Chair of the Republican County Chairmen's Association.  This election filled the vacancy created by the resignation of Santa Clara County GOP Chair Steve Mullen.  We thank Steve for his longtime dedication and service to our party.

Expanding Our Party

In the general session on Sunday, the floor overturned a Volunteer Organization Committee action and voted to recognize a new volunteer group, Conservative Republicans of California. This followed calls from CRP delegates and elected officials to expand our party after reported purges by the California Republican Assembly.

With the convention behind us, it is the fervent hope of BayAreaGOP that we can now focus on electing Republicans in the many competitive districts up in 2012.  We look forward to working with all of our Bay Area Republican volunteers in this effort.

Best regards,

Luis

 Leadership Update

There have been several leadership changes in the Bay Area already this year.

The Alameda County Republican Party elected Sue Caro as its new chair.  Sue has been president of the Piedmont Area Republican Women and is a real estate professional for Sotheby's in Oakland.  Past chair Roseann Slonsky-Breault resigned after she was elected President of the Northern Division of the California Federation of Republican Women.

The new chair in Santa Clara County is Charles Munger, Jr.  Charles, a physicist by training, has been the party's vice chair and led the passage of Proposition 20 in 2010, which required that California's congressional districts be drawn by the Citizens Redistricting Commission, independent of the legislature.

The Sonoma County Republican Party elected Elissa Wadleigh as its new chair.  She had been serving as the first vice chairman and political director of the Party.  Elissa is an insurance agent in Sonoma.

Congratulations to Sue, Charles, and Elissa.  Many thanks to outgoing chairs Roseann Slonsky-Breault, Steve Mullen, and Matthew Heath.
