Tara Martin-Milius and Jim Davis for Sunnyvale Council
|
|
Sunnyvale voters have two excellent choices for City Council in the November 8 election: Tara Martin-Milius for Seat #7 and Jim Davis for Seat #6.
Tara Martin-Milius has been active in Sunnyvale as a business owner, a neighborhood leader, a teacher, and a city commissioner.
Her priority issues are fiscal responsibility, completing the Downtown building plan, and public safety.
Tara Martin-Milius began working in the high-tech industry while attending college. She completed her Bachelor's degree in business and Masters in organization development.
After working in semiconductor companies at various levels of management, Tara formed her own business, teaching and consulting with non-profit, government and corporate clients.
Tara Martin-Milius focused her company around training and facilitation, management change and communication. She has continued teaching regularly at UCSC Extension and working with existing clients.
For the last decade, Tara has been an active leader for an ethnically diverse neighborhood in Sunnyvale. She has chaired the San Miguel Neighbors Association and has served as liaison with the City on numerous community issues.
She has also successfully completed a term on the Sunnyvale Arts Commission, which brought to the forefront her desire to run for City Council.
Growing up in an Air Force family, she had the fortune to live in diverse communities as her dad was transferred around the South Pacific. Her family returned to California where she completed her education. She has lived in Sunnyvale for more than 30 years.
You can learn more about Tara's campaign on her website.

For 25 years it has been Jim Davis' job to protect and serve the citizens of Sunnyvale. He says he's not done yet. Having retired as a Public Safety officer, he is now seeking election to the city council.
Jim Davis was recognized as Sunnyvale's Officer of the Year in 2009. Prior to his service in Sunnyvale, he worked 11 years with the San Jose Airport Police.
Sunnyvale's unusual Public Safety Department manages both police and fire functions, and officers are trained for both, so Davis has also worked as a fire fighter.
To familiarize himself with City Council protocol, he has attended City Council sessions steadily for two years. Additionally, he has gone to all budget hearings, workshops and issue study sessions.
Jim Davis has also been active in his community. He has been a member of the Sunnyvale Kiwanis Club since 2001, where he has judged posters for the Fire Safety contests, participated in road clean up, and helped raise funds for pediatric trauma patients.
Jim Davis has advised the Homestead High School Key Club since 2003 and helped them with projects such as the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Caroling for Cans at Christmas, and Hands on the Arts.
Jim has assisted the Sunnyvale Middle School Builders Club since 2003 in their fundraising efforts, cooking for firefighters, and conducting beach cleanups.
Jim was born, raised and educated in Santa Clara County, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from San Jose State University.
You can find out more about Jim on his campaign website.

Abram Wilson for San Ramon City Council
|
As Abram Wilson finishes his last term in San Ramon, where he has been Mayor since 2002, his desire to serve continues. Thus he is running for a seat on the City Council.
He is precluded by term limits from seeking another term as Mayor.
Abram Wilson has been a leader in various county and Tri-Valley Area organizations, including Chair of the Contra Costa Mayors Conference. He also was instrumental in developing a police and fire Disaster Communication Plan for Bay Area cities and counties.
An Army Veteran, Wilson proudly helped to develop Sentinels of Freedom in the Tri-Valley Area, a nationally acclaimed program to assist Veterans with the transition back into civilian life.
Abram's professional background in investments provides him with the experience to work efficiently to maintain fiscal stability for the City. He will continue to work to bring and keep jobs in San Ramon, protect the City's AAA Bond rating, and protect open spaces.
Abram and his wife Karen, a retired dentist, have lived in San Ramon for 32 years and raised their two children there. He says that "I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that San Ramon is a wonderful place to live." You can connect with Abram's campaign on his campaign website.
