Message from the Director

As the semester ends, we congratulate the students graduating from USC's Master of Public Diplomacy program.  Many of them have worked with CPD on a variety of research projects and have been wonderful colleagues. They have accomplished great things as students and will certainly have outstanding careers.

On April 23, CPD was pleased to host the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy's spring meeting.  During a day of presentations and discussions, CPD underscored its role as a sometimes provocative contributor to the debate about the future of U.S. public diplomacy. The commissioners seemed appreciative of the expertise of USC faculty members and CPD's commitment to advancing the study and practice of public diplomacy.

As we move into the summer, CPD research projects continue.  Among the most intriguing is our study of the public diplomacy implications of the Shanghai Expo.  Led by USC Professor Jay Wang, researchers will be posting video blogs from Shanghai and will follow up with a detailed report about their findings.

Once again, congratulations to the MPD graduates.  We look forward to greeting the new first-year students in August.

Philip Seib, Director
USC Center on Public Diplomacy
