Message from the Director

As the fall semester begins, USC's Center on Public Diplomacy is once again fortunate to be able to call on the talents of extraordinary students from the Masters in Public Diplomacy program, which is directed by Professor Nick Cull.  These students, who come from all over the world, provide research support for many of our projects and they infuse the work of the Center with their energy, optimism, and intelligence.

We are preparing for our first two events of the fall.  On September 8, here at the Annenberg School, CPD and the Journalism School will co-host a panel, "Iran: New Politics, New Media," featuring Roger Cohen of the New York Times and Mike Shuster of National Public Radio.  The following week, we will be in Washington, D.C. for "A New Public Diplomacy," a book launch and panel discussion about ways that the Obama administration should address public diplomacy issues.  The panel will be followed by a reception, and if you're in Washington on September 14, we urge you to come by the Newseum at 6:30 PM.  And later in September, another forum, this one featuring Professor Teresa LaPorte, our Visiting Scholar from Spain's Universidad de Navarra, who will discuss the EU's public diplomacy.

As you can see, we're getting off to a fast start.  There's always a lot going on here, and anytime you're in LA, we invite you to drop by.
