We've been seeing great response on the Collision Repair Compensation Survey so far (which you can participate in by visiting collisionrepairmag.com/survey).

It's still early to draw many conclusions, but based on responses up to now, it's a fairly even split between facilities who link managers' pay to the business's performance and those who don't: 60% do and 40% don't.

It's going to be interesting to watch that number as we get more respondents.

Which is of course my subtle way of reminding everyone to head on over to have a say in the results. Even better, help us spread the word about it; everything we find we'll share with the industry, so it benefits everyone equally.

NACE 2011 heads to Orlando

As a direct result of feedback from industry participants, Automotive Service and Repair Week (ASRW) announced recently that it will return to a rotating pattern beginning in 2011.
Aftermarket associations propose 'Recycle Your Tools' initiative

Too often young people find that the costs of tools restricts them from entering apprenticeship and doing the work they love--working on cars. Recognizing the need to address that issue, the Ontario Automotive Recyclers Association (OARA), has provided initial funding for a "Recycle Your Tools" initiative that will help in proposal writing and research of this unique program.
GFS starts a spraybooth blog

Global Finish Solutions has started blogging about the spraybooth world over at gfsboothblog.blogspot.com.

"We decided to start the Booth Blog in order to pull together the vast amounts of knowledge and technical expertise that exist within GFS, within our distribution group, and within our industry partners," they said in their first posting on January 6.

MPI integrates Mitchell Techadvisor

Mitchell International, Inc announced recently that Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI)--one of Canada's largest insurers--has selected Mitchell TechAdvisor for its source of real-time collision repair reference data for all of its service centres. Mitchell's online portal will give MPI estimators access to industry-leading OEM repair procedures along with the latest parts prices and labor times from a single source.
ICBC and employees raise $1 million for United Way

The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia and its employees raised $1,011,503 for United Way and other registered charities last year, making the 2010 campaign its most generous ever.
