Discount Car and Truck Rental held their 19th annual charity golf tournament on Friday in support of the Chase McEachern Foundation.

The Chase McEachern Fund raises money to help get life-saving automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in schools and sporting venues.
Canadian collision repair productivity up 26 per cent: AutoHouse

Productivity in Canadian collision repair facilities rose as much as 26 per cent between 2007 and 2009, according to a recent study by AutoHouse technologies.

Boyd Group completes acquisition of True2Form

Boyd Group Income Fund announced the closing of the acquisition of True2Form Collision Repair Centers, Inc., which was previously announced on June 28, 2010.

The total consideration for the transaction of approximately $18 million USD, subject to normal post-closing adjustments, was funded with a combination of cash, US bank debt, third-party financing, and a vendor take-back note.
I-CAR US is changing. Should we follow?

I-CAR US has announced that it will be moving toward a new Professional Development Program (PDP) over the next three years. They will be implementing these changes during in a three-year transitional period during which both businesses and individuals can adjust their Gold Class standing.

For Canadian I-CAR training, AIA has the choice of adopting the new American program or making its own variation on it. And they're seeking input.
The hidden, costly claims of hybrids

Mitchell International Inc. recently released it's third quarter 2010 edition of its Industry Trends Report (ITR), a publication that includes highlights of industry-related trends and statistics.

This edition's quarterly feature, "Are Hybrids as Green When it Comes to Their Claims Costs?" by Mitchell's vice president of industry relations, Greg Horn, reveals new information about the claim costs of hybrid vehicles, which in recent years have become a much more common sight on the nation's highways and are appearing in collision repair shops more frequently.
Ford developing wireless vehicle-vehicle crash avoidance system

Ford Motor Company's researchers are developing crash avoidance systems that use wireless and GPS technologies to help vehicles communicate with each other in traffic and help drivers avoid or mitigate accident.
WIN employment webinar discusses increase in harassment claims, including male-on-male "hazing"

The Women's Industry Network's (WIN) first interactive employment webinar, "Demystifying Discrimination, Diversity and the Evolving Workforce," is now available online to the entire industry.
