Is This For Real?
Animals Providing Work I: Safari parks can be a lot of fun, assuming that you're in a vehicle owned by someone else. A recent case illustrates this, where a playful zebra at a safari park decided to ram into a vehicle at top zebra speed. Zebras aren't known for being aggressive, so maybe it was just bored. Animals Providing Work II: Stinging insects have probably caused more than a few accidents over the years, but sometimes the motorist gives them a hand. A recent example: a wasp flew up a driver's pant leg, which caused the person to panic and jam down the accelerator. If only they hadn't been stopped at a traffic light with cars ahead of them... |

Did you Know...?

Offensive Driving: Naples, Florida is home to an establishment called the Redneck Yacht Club. It's 800 acres of mud pit that drivers pay $30 to drive around in their own customized off-road vehicles.
REALLY Offensive Driving: Germany goes Florida one better in the off-road mayhem business. The Panzer Fun Driving School in Brandenburg will teach you to drive one of its 13 Soviet armoured vehicles. For an extra fee, they will let you drive the tank over an old car. |

Greetings!
We've got another reader letter for you this week. Keep 'em coming, folks. Mike Davey,EditorIn the wake of recent economic
conditions and the possible closure of many dealerships, you can't help
but get a feeling of despair and sadness. It causes us to reflect on
our careers, especially those of us who have worked in a dealer
collision centre environment all our lives.
Cheer up! There is a
light at the end of the tunnel. Like life itself, there is a cycle and recovery
of sorts and we will come out of this stronger, better and more profitable. This
industry has evolved over the years and it will continue to evolve and we need
to change and adapt with it. There are many options open to dealers and
collision centres to operate under a different banner and offer different
products for sale. Maybe one of those beautiful stores needs to reopen and offer
alternative transportation like totally electric products and/or a large
selection of pedal bikes and accessories.
This change has been
evident in the collision industry for years. What we have seen as a result of
this change is a raising of the bar in quality of repairs and efficiency.
Pick yourself up!
Brush yourself off! Block out the naysayers, the negativity, and get back in the
game. People need cars and
we need to fix and service them! I see this as another shifting of the paradigm.
Don't stay stuck in the past.
Don Teevens, Refinish Manager for Co-Auto Co-Operative
