There's a story below about Environment Canada possibly extending the proposed low-VOC deadline of January 1, 2010.
 
In my opinion, it's best not to wait for the inevitable. I can't think of too many examples where someone got in trouble for being ready too early.

Tri-Industry Panel Meets to Promote Green Parts

A tri-industry panel meeting took place recently to discuss  strategies to promote the use of recycled parts. The meeting drew together insurers, auto recyclers, and collision repairers.

Appropriately scheduled on Earth Day, key members of the respective industries critiqued existing marketing strategies and tactics in terms of increasing the use of Green Parts in the collision repair industry. The meeting was organized by Collision Repair magazine.

Mitchell Releases New Industry Trends Report

Mitchell International has released the second quarter 2009 edition of its Industry Trends Report (ITR) -- the company's quarterly publication that highlights industry-related trends, news items and statistics.

This edition's Quarterly Feature, "A Deeper Dive into the Latest Crash Parts Index Analysis Yields Unexpected Results," by Mitchell's Vice President of Industry Relations, Greg Horn, discusses the latest findings of Mitchell's Crash Parts Index Analysis. This in-depth, ongoing analysis conducted by Mitchell organizes crash parts data into a general "collision parts market basket" and tracks changes in the average prices over time.

Low-VOC Update: Will Shops Be Ready?

Environment Canada says it's pushing ahead with its plan to implement new VOC legislation. A number of repair shops are in the process, or have already converted, to meet the new regulations and use VOC-compliant refinishing products. The repair shops are not alone in making the change, as the major paint manufacturers have been working with their clients to ensure they're ready for the new legislation.
