This is New
: Usually it's crooks who pull the bonehead maneuvers, but every once in a while the police manage to pull one of their own. Toronto police officers investigating a robbery at The Beer Store in January parked their cruiser to investigate but admitted later (after a train had crushed it) that it was probably "a little bit on the tracks."

Celebrity Endorsement: John Dillinger was famous for two things: being a violent gangster and something else that we have too much dignity to mention here. However, he was also devoted to the Ford Motor Company, preferring to steal their cars over those of any other car company.

CARS Council Appoints Regional Champions

The CARS Council is currently engaged in updating the groundbreaking 2005 report, The Road Ahead. The original report was an extensive study looking at the human resource and training needs of industry employers and employees in the motive power repair and service industry.

I-CAR Submission Deadline Set for March 1

The deadline to submit  the Expression of Interest (EOI) document for collision repair training organizations interested in assuming I-CAR's Canadian operations is March 1, 2009. Canadian firms intending to submit an Expression of Interest document prior to the deadline can visit the I-CAR website at www.i-car.ca/eoi for more information and to obtain the document.

Following a review of the EOI submissions, qualified organizations will be invited in April to submit a proposal and business plan detailing how their firms will successfully incorporate the I-CAR vision in future operations in Canada. These proposals will be reviewed by the I-CAR Canadian Task Force and a recommendation made in July to help assure the completion of the transition by December 31, 2009.

In January, I-CAR announced plans to transition its Canadian operations for collision repair training to a Canadian firm under a licensing agreement. Operations in Canada are continuing as usual while the training organization seeks a potential licensee.
That's all for another week. Make sure to visit collisionrepairmagazine.com every day for the latest news.

"Today's economic conditions make it more important than ever to be efficient, to make intelligent decisions, and to focus on continuous improvement. You could have all the right equipment in your shop, but if you don't have a strong foundation of effective business processes in place, then you don't truly have all the tools you need to succeed." - John Kotsopoulos, Managing Director for Audatex North America.
