If we want to see an innovative auto industry here in Canada, maybe we should start looking to Sweden.

I'm not going as far afield as you might think. Sweden and Canada share a somewhat similar climate, so cars generally take the same kind of abuse.

Since the mid-1990s, the Swedish government and automotive industry have invested some $2 billion in developing The Green Vehicle, The Safe Vehicle, The Intelligent Vehicle and The Connected Vehicle. It's high time Canada did the same.

Heartland B & B Collision~CSN Hosts Grand Opening

Heartland B&B Collision ~ CSN in Mississauga, Ont. recently hosted a grand opening for its partners and clients. The facility, owned and operated by Steve and Adrian Ingoglia (owners of Automacs Collision ~ CSN in Oakville, Ont.) recently opened in the Heartland Town Centre.

The event was attended by over 200 people and included a ribbon cutting ceremony and words from the mayor of Mississauga, Hazel McCallion.

Mitchell Release ABS 8.2

Mitchell International has announced the release of ABS 8.2 and ABS Enterprise 8.2.

According to Mitchell, ABS 8.2 features new capabilities that enable individual collision repair facilities to operate more efficiently and reliably. Both ABS 8.2 and ABS Enterprise 8.2 include enhanced reporting features, providing users with easy, instant access to performance details surrounding their business operations. ABS reports can now apply filters and sort and export data to other applications.

Rod Matthews, owner of Pete's Auto Body in Owen Sound, Ont., and Mitchell customer for over 15 years is currently using ABS 8.2 and commented on the solution saying, "The new release is packed with features that all professional collision shops will use on a daily basis. ABS 8.2 is as necessary to a business as their spray booth."

Role of IBIS Crucial in Current Global Climate

Ontario's Minister of Economic Development Addresses AIA Meeting
 
Michael Bryant at AIAThe Automotive Industries Association (AIA) of Canada Annual General Meeting took place on December 3, 2008 at the Old Mill Inn in Etobicoke, ON. The pre-dinner speaker was the Honourable Michael Bryant, Ontario's Minister of Economic Development.

Bryant's outlook was essentially positive, saying "We will be working with the association and the industry to review potential changes to policies and regulations in order to build a strong economy and help your business to compete." Bryant also congratulated AIA for all its work in supporting the Canadian aftermarket, and he encouraged association members to contact MPPs and government ministries with issues of concern such as right to repair.
