Greetings!

The holidays are almost here. This is a time of year when many collision repair facilities spread the Christmas spirit by restoring vehicles and giving them to families in need. A couple of leaders are Julio Bruno in St. Catharines and Nick DiLuca in Burlington.

I'm sure many shops do something to help the less fortunate around this time of year, but we don't get to hear about it.  If you or someone you know has been especially giving in this year, please let me know.

Canada's Recyclers Win International Recognition

By Mike Davey

Canada's automotive recyclers have come a long way! Notable achievements have included industry standards accreditation efforts, environmental stewardship and computerized inventories. We are pleased to announce that these efforts have been acknowledged in two different ways.

The Automotive Recyclers of Canada (ARC) is an association of associations, comprised of provinical associations of professional automotive recyclers. ARC represents Canada in the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA), a U.S.-based international organization. At a recent meeting of ARA, ARC was awarded Affiliate Chapter of the Year for the work the association and its members have done in promoting and improving the automotive recycling industry.

Collision Quote
"We recycle everything. Our ultimate goal is to go completely paperless. All of our faxes now come in as e-mails, and everything that comes in is scanned into our management system. About 80 percent of our parts orders are through e-mail. We've achieved a nearly 50 percent reduction in paper to date." - Dana Alexander, owner/operator of Dana's Collision Center in Fredericton, NB.  The facility won a special Mayor's Award for their environmental work in 2008.
