Is This For Real?
Not Our Finest Hour: The Bricklin SV-1 was manufactured in Canada from
1974-1976 and was intended to focus on safety. Problems included gullwing
doors that leaked, a plastic body that could warp, and electrical
issues. Less than 3,000 were ever built. |

Did you Know...?
Political Power: More people die in car crashes during voting hours on U.S. election days than equivalent non-voting days.
Go Girl: By 1923, inventive women had filed over 170 patents for automotive technologies.

Greetings!
An interesting post showed up in our forum the other day from John Antonioni, collision network program coordinator for BWM Group Canada. Here's a quote: "I read with interest the Publisher's Message in Vol. 7#4 of Collision Repair magazine. Your message regarding diminishing structural repair competencies is one that this industry needs to hear...For whatever unfortunate reasons, the repair business has become far more interested in providing untenable cost reductions than it is in delivering a product that is structurally sound. Far too often, I have seen many safety concerns delivered to the customer, albeit hidden in a shiny package that is quickly delivered." John's got a point. Structural repair is becoming more complex, with new materials demanding new techniques. You can click here to join the discussion. Isn't it a good thing that we have I-CAR to help train techs on these new techniques? The I-CAR Canada Annual General meeting is still accepting registrations. You can do so by clicking here. Assured Automotive Golf Tournament Helps Fight MS
The method might have been fun, but the purpose was serious at the Assured Automotive golf tournament. Held at the Royal Woodbine Golf Club in Toronto, ON, the event drew together about 150 members of Assured Automotive's staff, insurance partners and vendors. They came together to play some golf and raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society at the same time. Assured Automotive is a corporately owned chain of 27 collision repair facilities in the GTA and Golden Horseshoe regions of Ontario. For more information, please visit assuredauto.ca. Fix Auto Golf Tournament HonoursJosie Ferlito
Fix Auto Ontario recently celebrated its first Annual Masters Golf Tournament at The Club at Bond Head. Honouring
Josie Ferlito, a young employee of Fix Auto Ontario that we have all
lost this past December in a tragic car accident, funds raised from the
golf tournament were donated to Epilepsy Ontario. With everyone's
support, Fix Auto honoured Josie Ferlito's memory and passion for
Epilepsy Ontario.
In addition, Research in Motion executive,
Alain Gagné was present at the tournament addressing all participants
by congratulating Fix Auto on being a leader in technology in the
collision repair industry. Gagne also mentioned that he is a strong
supporter of the Fix Auto brand, by comparing it to Research in Motion
and the blackberry. "Fix Auto has a strong technology base, benefiting
both their shops and their partners. This allows them to stand out
against the competition," said Gagne.
