A Little English I: A man in the UK was lucky to have the help of video footage in proving to his insurance company that the rowdy camel passing through a garden centre parking lot did in fact kick at his parked car.
A Little English II: Another UK insurance claim states that a car was damaged when a naked pedestrian leapt onto the roof, jumped up and down and then ran away.

Remember Generation X? The "slackers" of yesteryear have pretty much disappeared, having traded in our plaid shirts and jeans for suspenders and wingtips, or at least slightly classier jeans. In their place we now have Generation Y. Considered as a group, Generation Y is about the furthest thing possible from the ethos of slack. They know what they want even if they don't yet know how to get it. In fact, one of the biggest trends in business right now is figuring out what Generation Y wants most. And guess what? Overwhelmingly, it's auto customization. It's certainly something to think about. Going out of your way to pursue customization may have the benefit of attracting Generation Y as your customers. Also, some custom business may attract members of this generation to your facility from another direction, as paid employees. The body techs of tomorrow very often got interested in the trade solely because of a love of custom car television. CARSTAR Conference Rolls Into Montreal
CARSTAR franchisees and employees came from across Canada to the Delta Centre-Ville Hotel, located in the heart of Montreal, QC for the 2008 CARSTAR Automotive Canada conference.
The conference opened Wednesday, August 13 with an opening address by Sam Mercanti, CARSTAR Automotive Canada's president and CEO. Dave Lush, the company's chief operating officer, highlighted the strategies, tactics and business plans that are in place to deal with an ever changing and evolving world.
The next day, attendees started off with the keynote address, delivered by Dr. John Izzo. Also on the slate for Thursday morning was a presentation by Louis Heroux of ING Canada, the Insurance Roundtable Panel Session, and a presentation titled "Great Brands Don't Happen by Accident" delivered by CARSTAR staff Dave Lush and Lisa Mercanti-Ladd.

Whether it is the concerns raised for repairer safety, or the changes taking place throughout the business, the collision repair industry continues to make news around the world. In Australia, a current affairs program raised eyebrows with its claim that insurance companies are risking lives for the sake of increasing profits, while IBIS' launch in the country was widely considered a success. Meanwhile, south of the border, a New York judge dismissed Progressive's case of fraud against an independent shop owner, while CIF announced a campaign to help the economically hard hit Motor City of Detroit. In Saudi Arabia, Akzo Nobel won the approval of Tata Motors, which the company hopes will increase their products' popularity in the region, while in the UK repairers are on alert for vehicles with dangerous modifications.
