Is This For Real?
Public Spirited, but Dumb: A woman who had too much to drink drove herself and her intoxicated boyfriend home. She felt so bad about drinking and driving that she called the police - on herself! When the police showed up, the woman took a breathalyser test and blew a .14 alcohol blood test.
Hot Mob: During Australia's biggest hot rod festival, a mob of 400 drunken men surrounded women and demanded they flash them. The festival had been billed as a "family event."

Did you Know...?
Air Speed: When triggered, an airbag moves at speeds of up to 4500 mph!
Cheap Cars: In 1924 a brand new Ford automobile cost just $265! |

Greetings!
Last issue I mentioned that I had started a few new discussions on our Forum. It's kicked off some debate, especially the discussion about simplifying DRP relationships. For example, here's what Joy Skinner of Industrial Park Collision had to say on the topic of Simplifying DRP Relationships:
"One suggestion would be that insurers should look at all the claims
handling processes and model themselves after the one or two companies
that have designed a seamless process. Or sit down collectively and
design a system that works for the majority of companies. A lot of work
but more streamlined processes will result in big savings for insurers."
It's not too late to get involved. You can access our Forum any time either through collisionrepairmag.com or by clicking the link below.

Dana's Collision Centre Wins Mayor's Environmental Award
By Mike Davey
Fredericton, NB
has set itself the goal of becoming the "greenest" city in Canada. It's a
lofty goal, but one local business is already doing its part.
Dana's Collision Center is located in Fredericton, NB.
The facility is a member of Collision Associates/CSN and is owned and operated
by Dana Alexander.
The shop was recognized during a meeting of Fredericton's city council recently for its
numerous environmental efforts, including a conversion to the waterborne
compliant Sikkens Autowave refinishing system.
"The cutting edge technology that Dana's Collision is using will help
reduce the amount of harmful chemicals being emitted into the environment, and
will help to reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions in the community. If more
businesses were as diligent as this, we would certainly reach our Kyoto reduction
targets," said Mayor Brad Woodside as he presented the inaugural award to
Dana Alexander. "You and your whole team deserve our congratulations and
this award."

Black Box Technology Hits the Road
By Ryan O'Connor
What if you could record the details of an
auto collision with the purpose discovering its cause? Would it mean the end of
hasty and inconsistent excuses from poor drivers? Probably not (poles will
still be coming from out of nowhere), but Honda is putting this question to the
test by introducing their new Drive Recorder-Blackbox. Click here to read more!

WISE WORDS
"The industry has come a long way in the last few years,
but there's still a lot more that we could do. Too many shop
owners are still working in their
business, rather than on their
business. The shops that aren't modernizing their practices will get left
behind."
- Steve Leal, President of Fix Auto Ontario
