Speed up QuickBooks
Is your QuickBooks running slow? This can be caused by many factors. However, there is a good chance that we can solve your slowness and latency problems.
The first thing to consider is the QuickBooks file size. You can find your file size in the QuickBooks Product Information window (accessed from the F2 key while in QuickBooks). do this, click F2 while in QuickBooks. Use the file size and general guidelines below to help you find a solution.
If your file size is:
Less than 125MB - Call us for several Preferences and best practice tips and tricks to speed up your QuickBooks. Also, for these smaller file sizes, it may be a systems issue that we can help with.
125MB - 500MB - Most likely you have outgrown QuickBooks Pro / Premier; you will want to consider QuickBooks Enterprise. Call us for discounted upgrade pricing and free consulting with your purchase.
Over 500MB - Files of this size may need our data archival / compression service. We can speed up the file by applying our technology to reduce the file size and get you back to speed.
A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand.
Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.

QuickBooks Conversion, Eh?
Ready for a QuickBooks technical anecdote with international connotations? Read on.
A recent project took us to the depths of QuickBooks to QuickBooks conversions. I'm speaking of converting a QuickBooks Canadian Edition company data file to QuickBooks U.S. Edition. We had to use special care and lots of patience to complete the project. The job involved extracting all lists and historical transactions from the QuickBooks Canadian data file and importing into a new QuickBooks U.S. data file.
Special care was needed because QuickBooks Canadian and QuickBooks U.S. do not live well together, at least when it comes to 3rd-party utilities we needed to use for the data extraction and import. Specifically, QuickBooks Canadian and QuickBooks U.S. each have a different Software Developers Kit (SDK); the SDK is the "connecting fiber" that allows 3rd-party add-ons to communicate with QuickBooks software. The special consideration here is that only one SDK could be active in one computer at any one time, making it impossible for the 3rd-party utilities to connect with both QuickBooks Editions at the same time. Instead of constantly activating and deactivating each SDK (by renaming the containing folders), the simpler solution was to use separate computers, one with only QuickBooks Canadian installed and the other only with QuickBooks U.S. installed.
Earlier I mentioned special care and lots of patience. The patience came into play as we carefully watched tens of thousands of transactions be imported using the 3rd-party utility. And further patience was exercised in comparing and matching each year's financial results between the two files (original QuickBooks Canadian and new QuickBooks U.S.), as well as comparing transaction totals by transaction type, by customer, by vendor, and so on, again to verify that all information was indeed converted correctly.
If you're wondering why the client requested to be converted from QuickBooks Canadian to QuickBooks U.S. it was because they needed the advances offered by QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions (U.S.), not available in Canadian Edition. So the next time you are thinking of converting any kind of accounting file to any type of QuickBooks, make sure to call in the expert team of Mendelson Consulting.
