Goodguys founder and Chairman Gary Meadors is working on a new car with the help of some old friends.

Longtime fan of big 40s era classics, the new project is a 1948 Chrysler Town and Country convertible - a graceful beauty with long, low symmetrical lines. Working off a sketch by Thom Taylor, Meadors has appointed Bob Bauder of Crestline, California, as captain of the build team. The completely new wood installation is courtesy of Cincinnati Woodworks. The gang at Wood N Carr will perform the intricate wood finish work. The color will be a deep maroon with warm, rich wood tones.

Under the long smooth hood will sit a 2006 Dodge Viper "Gen 3" SRT 10 with an automatic trans. An Art Morrison chassis with coilover's and 4 wheel disc brakes will get the big Woodie riding in ultra cool, ultra low fashion.

The bright work will be handled by Sherm's plating. Seventeen inch Chrysler wires & whitewall's finish off the look. In sticking to the Meadors signature, the goal is to have an extremely low stock appearing classic Chrysler for comfortable long distance cruisin' and profilin'.



After a meeting with Gary Meadors and Bob Bauder at the Del Mar Goodguys event, a handshake was made and it was agreed that Hot Rods and Hobbies will join the build team. Hot Rods and Hobbies will be in charge of all metal work and fit and finish.

Day Two will head east to visit California's Capitol City, long a hot bed for hot rodding, with stops at John White's "Rams Head Auto Collection" -which features some of the rarest and most pristine Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge automobiles you'll ever see, So-Cal Speed Shop and the day's final stop - the Taj Mahal for traditional hot rodders - Sacramento Vintage Ford!

The 24th West Coast Nationals scheduled for August 27, 28 & 29 at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds and will be open to rods, customs, classics and muscle cars through 1972.

It's the first time in the event's long history that pre '73 muscle cars and street machines will be eligible to participate.




We hope to see 150-200 Goodguys cars stop on the tour to check out our store. They should start arriving after 2:00 p.m.

We will have the famous Sacramento Vintage POPCORN machine rev'd up, the sodas on ice and maybe even a movie or two on the big screen in the back!

DIY's hit series Celebrity Rides is back with its hottest build ever! Over four half-hour episodes, DIY Network re-creates one of Hollywood's most famous cars: a 1968 GT Fastback Mustang made famous by the movie Bullitt. Chad McQueen, son of Hollywood legend Steve McQueen, teams up with Gateway Classic Mustang to build his version of the car that set the standard for Hollywood muscle. The series also covers the historical aspect of this famous Hollywood icon through the use of interviews, McQueen family photos and scenes from the now-infamous chase scene in Bullitt. In the end, there is no mistaking this car and what it represents: raw horsepower and the ultimate muscle car experience!

Legendary actor Steve McQueen played a detective in the 1968 movie Bullitt. Out of that movie came one of the most famous car chases in cinema history, along with a mustang that is now synonymous with the title.



It was a 1968 GT Mustang Fastback, and that is the car that McQueen's son, Chad, would like to call his own. With the help of Gateway Classic Mustang and historian Matt Stone, the team will create a tribute car for the son of a man whose legacy lives on today. Hot Rod TV "Bullitt" on SPEED CHANNEL

In 1968 a highland green Ford Mustang 390 CID Fastback best remembered for its car chase scene through the streets of San Francisco. To this day it is still regarded as one of the most influential car chase sequences in movie history. Hot Rod TV visits with Chad McQueen and other "Bullitt" enthusiasts and gives the audience an insight as to why this car has become culturally, and historically significant to the hot rod world.

RM Auctions has bought the Kruse International Auction Park in Auburn, Ind., from financially troubled auctioneer Dean Kruse and plans to hold the site's annual Labor Day weekend car auction September 2-6, 2010.

Rob Myers, RM Auction CEO, said his company will spend the next several weeks making upgrades to the auction facility and lining up consignments. Myers said he expects to have between 1,000 and 1,500 cars for the September auction. He also plans to hold a spring auction at the complex.

The acquisition vaults RM Auctions, based in Chatham, Ontario, into a high-volume segment of the auto-auction business that caters to fans of muscle cars, customs and hot rods. Until now, RM Auctions has focused on smaller, high-end events and vehicles--selling 200 or fewer vehicles in places such as Monterey, Calif., Amelia Island, Fla., and Monaco.

Sadly....after 72 years the Mercury line of cars started in 1938 has reached it's end.

As Ford continues the growth of the Ford brand, it is expanding and enhancing its Lincoln brand lineup with seven all-new or significantly refreshed vehicles in the
next four years. Ford will also end production of Mercury vehicles in the fourth quarter of this year to devote its financial, product development, production and
marketing, sales and service resources toward the continued growth of its core Ford brand while enhancing the Lincoln brand.

According to Mark Fields - President of the America's.........."Although a difficult decision, we think this is the right time to take this action on Mercury. We've gone though our normal process this spring where we review and lock in our business and product plans. It became evident that as we've seen the strength of the Ford brand accelerate, many customers who would be purchasing Mercury products have migrated to Ford vehicles. So, we felt this was the optimal time to make this decision. Not only will it allow us to focus the majority of our efforts further accelerating improvements we've seen in our Ford portfolio, but also allow us to focus more on bringing Lincoln to the next level."

Off topic a bit here but we do that a lot! Some of you (us) old timers will remember this car.

LONDON - RM Auctions will team with Sotheby's to sell the original 1964 Aston Martin DB5 driven by Sean Connery in the James Bond flicks Goldfinger and Thunderball. RM expects the gadget-equipped car to fetch "in excess of $5 million" at its annual Automobiles of London sale on October 27.

Touted by RM as "one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century," the DB5 was acquired by Philadelphia radio-station owner Jerry Lee from the Aston Martin factory for $12,000 in 1969. Lee plans to use the proceeds for his Jerry Lee Foundation.

The Bond car was loaned to the movie producers by the Aston factory, which fitted the DB5 with such gadgetry as machine guns, a bulletproof shield, revolving license plates, a tracking device, a removable roof panel, oil-slick sprayer, nail spreader and smoke screen. The special effects were controlled from factory toggle switches hidden in the center armrest.

The car, which had been displayed statically at Lee's home, was restored to running condition by the auction house's restoration team.

Two 1964 Aston Martin DB5s were featured in the James Bond Goldfinger and Thunderball movies. One survives, and it's up for grabs at the RM Auctions Automobiles of London sale.

This is the first time that the car will be available to the general public.
