TLC is pleased to begin accepting proposals for the 2011 Research Grant Program! This donor-funded program is designed to provide funding for seed projects. The goal is that these smaller projects, once completed, will garner interest from larger funding organizations.
Previously funded projects include N-Acetylcysteine for the Treatment of TTM in Children, Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) of TTM patients, Emotion Regulation in Pathological Skin Picking, and, most recently, Computerized Training Programs for TTM.
Eligible Research Programs include any study that may contribute to the understanding and/or treatment of TTM, compulsive skin picking and related Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs). These may include experimental psychopathology studies, clinical studies, or investigation of phenomenology and impact across the developmental spectrum. Projects will be considered for funding up to $20,000 per year, although smaller projects may also be proposed.
Candidates must have a relevant advanced degree (MD, PhD, PsyD) or be enrolled in a degree-granting program. If a student submits proposals, a research mentor must be identified in the letter of intent and in the application.
For details on the application process and instructions on submitting proposals, visit http://www.trich.org/research/grant-program.html.
At TLC, we know that the biggest change can come from the smallest start! This program has seen small projects with budgets under $15,000 evolve into multi-million dollar NIMH-funded treatment studies. If you are interested in submitting a proposal, or know someone who is, please help us spread the word!
With love,
TLC
