Dear ,
For many, September means Back to School...and for those with trich and skin picking that can also mean an increase in unwanted behavior.
According to TLC Scientific Advisory Board members and co-authors of the parenting guide, Stay Out of My Hair, Suzanne Mouton-Odum, PhD, and Ruth Goldfinger Golomb, MEd, LCPC, "most children with trich or skin picking experience some resumption of the behavior during the first quarter of the school year...It is most important to try NOT to be surprised by a setback."
In the upcoming TLC newsletter (join here to get your copy), Mouton-Odum and Golomb offer some key reminders of useful strategies to support your child:
- Expect slips during the first quarter of the school year - Review trigger situations - Review what worked in the past - Support your child no matter what - Stay positive - Don't make pulling/picking the focus of the return to school process - Take care of yourself
For more from Mouton-Odum and Golomb, read their book or view the new webcast (also available on DVD)of their presentation at the 2010 TLC Conference.

With love, TLC
