Establishing A Clear Desk Policy 
garageAre you ready to establish a clear desk policy?  As you work at your desk and move documents and papers from one side to the other use the tips below to regain control of your desktop.
1) Desk: Clear your desk before the end of each day.
2) Projects: Place project related materials in a folder and file it at the end of your work day. 
3) Maintenance: Schedule time weekly to go through in-basket and the piles on your desk.
4) Mail: Don't pile mail on desk.  Discard junk mail.   
5) Notes/To-Do List: Use one notebook and date each entry and list notes, messages, etc.  Do not use scraps of paper.

Where has the year gone? Before you know it, we'll be hearing Christmas bells.  Here are a few tips to help you work towards ending this year on a high note.
  • Organize your database.  Plug in all of those business cards you've accumulated this year.  When the holidays roll around, you won't scramble to put together your mailing list.
  • Update your filing system.  Make sure that your files are orderly.  Have your assistant spend time preparing files to be closed out at the end of the year. 
  • Effectively manage your schedule. Overbooking is common during this time of year while you're trying to get it all in.  Your assistants' goal should be to stay on top of you and your schedule to avoid burn out.  Schedule the necessary, prep your assistant on the rest. 

These tips will help you fall into order this season.
