  • Ways To Stay Cool Now That Summer Is Here

Summer is here and it seems like it's going to stay! Now the question is how to stay cool? Granted, the weather isn't as hot as most of the country but it seems that blood thins here and just like we start wearing shorts and sandals at 55-60 degrees, we also start sweltering at 75. Obviously there are the simple stay-home solutions of pulling out your fans and the kiddie pool and the traditional get out of the house ideas like going to the mall or the movie theater. But sometimes, you're itching to enjoy the great weather while still staying cool!

    What is Responsive Web Design?
Screenshot example of responsive web design

Responsive web design is a way to create a website that adapts to different display sizes and orientations. Or more simply, design a website to display nicely on any device. The size of content and amount of information that can be effectively displayed varies with different screen and device sizes.

While we do a lot of work behind the desk here at CeSI, we're not a bunch of desk bound sloths. We like to get out and exercise. One of my favorite activities is visiting Vertical World, my local climbing gym in Redmond.

Vertical World prides itself on having opened the first rock climbing gym in America. It opened on Elliot Ave in Seattle in 1987. Since then they have opened a number of locations in Seattle, Everett, Tacoma, and Redmond. These gyms offer several types of climbing including belaying and top roping, but my favorite is bouldering.

A New Way to Fight Locally: Lucha Libre Volcanica
    Lucha Libre Volcanica

    Guest post by Michael Leveton

The two combatants, wearing flashy lycra and fantastical masks, begin to assault each other. They grapple and exchange blows, but quickly escalate into a barrage of flips, flying acrobatics, and 20-foot drops onto each other. The audience screams, heckles, boos and cheers, to which the combatants respond by heckling in return.

This is another day at the office for the luchadors of Lucha Libre Volcanica - a lucha libre troupe based out of Renton. LLV is also home to the first and only school of Lucha Libre Mexicana - a traditional form of Mexican professional wrestling - in the Pacific Northwest.
