Greetings!

Welcome to the first newsletter for the Shared Decision Making (SDM) program.  As part of a primary care team at MGH, you will receive a quarterly newsletter that includes: updates to the available video programs and shared decision making projects, practice-specific prescription data, upcoming events for patients and providers, as well as useful resources and links.

The Shared Decision Making program is sponsored by the MGH Health Decision Sciences Center and John D. Stoeckle Center. We strive to provide high-quality health information to promote active and shared decision-making in clinical care at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

We appreciate any feedback as we continue to expand and improve upon our program work.

Sincerely,

Karen Sepucha, Leigh Simmons, Lauren Leavitt, Christine Greipp

Shared Decision Making Aids

MGH's decision aid video programs are tools that assist with the shared decision-making process.  They help patients:
  • prepare for a medical visit
  • learn about medical tests & treatments and understand what research shows about their benefits and risks
  • hear from other patients who have faced a decision about medical tests & treatments
  • think through their goals and their personal preferences

We have over 35 programs available on various health topics.  The data is reviewed every 6 months by a team of medical experts; booklets and videos are updated as necessary.  The programs are readily available to order through a patient's electronic medical record within LMR or OnCall.

If you have questions or comments about the ordering process, please contact us at:  mghsdm@partners.org
