Lisa Oliver--one of our art reproduction clients from Lafayette, Louisiana--hit upon a sensational way to promote her art, while at the same time, helping her son's high school football team raise money. She painted a canvas with imagery of the team's mascot, stadium, helmet, players, etc... She then had the players sign a piece of illustration board, around a rectangle that represented the dimensions of the final print size that she was going to offer. In this case, the art image is 9x12 & the signature border is 14x18.
After photographing the original painting & the signature board, we digitally combined the two to make the final print image. We used an economical-weight presentation matte paper for this "art poster," which allowed Lisa to offer the prints at a very affordable resale price, giving both her & the school the opportunity to enjoy a profit from the project.
Because this made such a great souvenir keepsake, Lisa easily sold these to students & alumni, as-well-as to friends & supporters of the school. It really was as easy as showing the print around & taking orders. As an added marketing tool, the artwork was picked up by the school to use on the cover of their programs for the games. We posted the print on Lisa's Facebook page, which also generated sales.
As a nice, ego boosting perk, the players got a real charge out of having their signatures immortalized in this way. A true win-win for everyone involved.
