CONNECT Math Transfer Agreement

Math Group

Seated: Michael Vieira (BCC), Karen Dixon (UMD), Barbara Finkelstein (MCC). Standing: Susan McCourt (BCC), Susan Miller (CCCC), Jack Keating (MCC), Howard London (BSU), Mary Moynihan (CCCC), Jane DeVoe (MCC), Greg Sethares (BCC)

At their March 10, 2011 meeting, the Chief Academic Officers of the CONNECT institutions signed the CONNECT Math Transfer Agreement. This compact, the culmination of several years of work of Mathematics faculty from the CONNECT campuses, is designed to ease the transfer process for students. Participating faculty developed a list of essential skills for students in Introductory Statistics, Math for Elementary Teachers I and II, and Finite Mathematics. The agreement represents the commitment of the Chief Academic Officers, along with the Math faculty, to keep listings up to date, perform regular reviews of course equivalencies, and accept the listed courses as equivalent on each campus. The process of course alignment not only creates technical equivalencies for the transfer of credits, but also assures that students who transfer have the same skills, knowledge, and foundation for success as native students. A similar process establishing equivalencies in Composition/English was completed in 2009; the "CONNECT Writing Group Common Outcomes" can be found here.
