College Readiness Conference April 13, 2011 - Registration Now Available 

GraduatesThe program for the conference, "Pathways to College Readiness and College Success," is currently being finalized. This one-day event will bring together secondary and post-secondary faculty and administrators to talk about the transition from high school to college, the changing environment in which MA public education operates, and how to set more students on the path to success in college. This conference will be relevant to anyone involved in public education: college faculty, K-12 educators, guidance counselors, academic support specialists and advisors, superintendents, principals, Math, Science, and Language Arts coordinators, and education policy makers. Sessions will include discussions of national and statewide trends, trainings on the Common Core in Math and English, collegial conversations between secondary and postsecondary educators on gaps between high school and college expectations,and a showcase of ambitious innovations.

Cape Cod Community College - Multicultural Festival of Cape Cod

Bristol Community College - Cake Show Deadline

Cooks who are crafty with confections and want to show off their baking skills can enter the 4th annual SkillsUSA Cake Show competition.   The competition is open to youth, high school and college students, and novice and professional decorators. The registration deadline is Tuesday, March 15; entry fee for competitors is $10.   The Cake Show will take place on Saturday, April 9. Bridgewater State University - Southeastern Massachusetts Regional Writing Conference Call for Papers

English faculty from the region's colleges and universities are planning a Regional Writing Conference to take place Thursday May 19 at Bridgewater State University. Conference Theme: How Students Develop as Writers. The organizing committee seeks interactive workshops that illustrate best practices for assisting college writers as they develop. Faculty interested in submitting a proposal should request more information from Rita Jones-Hyde at rjones@massasoit.mass.edu.
