Dear Neighbor,
The Mary & John Geisse Soccer Complex Phase 7 Drainage project is moving along very rapidly now that the 5 month wait for IPL and Comcast to move utility poles is over!

Little, if any, water should now pond north of West 56th Street across from the soccer park. Last week the culvert under the sidewalk was replaced and earlier the culvert under 56th Street was replaced. So if water gets anywhere near the new drainage pipe under West 56th Street, it will be carried under the road, into the new open swale, flow west into the newly installed intake pipe and be carried all the way south, under the parking lot, to Pond One. The new open swale will also take any water the used to pond between 56th and the safety mound.
Update: This week and next: Passing blister, acceleration lane and de-acceleration should be paved this week (and lane restrictions end).
Concrete curbs along drive installed.
Limestone stabilization was mixed with soil today and will harden the ground under the new 56th Street entrance.
Stone will placed on the drive next week.
Pave the entrance in the next 2 weeks.
Seeding all disturbed areas.
Recently:
(Donated) Contractor reshaped the entire safety mound so it should look uniform and be safer for mowers. (It will be reseeded soon.)
(By DPW) To help fix drainage problems, 55 truckloads of topsoil donated by Mr. Irsay and Colts was leveled over Mayor's Gardens, NW grass lot, Gardener parking areas, and several large (poor) drainage areas not addressed by contractor/drainage job.
Comcast spliced its cable two weeks ago. Earlier IPL moved its lines and 5 poles and remove them after Comcast moved its cable.
Earlier:
CTYSF suggested improvements to job, approved by DPW, include:
Added subsurface drainage the entire length of the mound from Trail to Colts SOUTH of the mound that should handle any water that heads to the mound from the parking area and soccer fields.
Added dirt and subsurface drainage in the ponding area between the old fields and the new fields. (This works great..like someone pulled the plug on a bathtub...and the water goes right into the drainage pipe...looks like a fire hydrant inside the "beehive" drainage intake.)
(Donated) Contractor installed beehive intake near ponding area, half way along length of large drainage pipe.
Pike Youth Soccer Club fixed several drainage problems on the soccer fields not addressed by drainage contractor job with donated dirt moved by DPW.
This project will soon be completed. Thank you so much for your patience during construction.
Thank you.
