9/10/11

Greetings!

Ten years ago this weekend, even though the USA remained in shock, we decided to "let the kids play."  Before each game all the players, coaches, and referees joined hands around the center circle for a moment of silence.  This weekend we had only three games on Saturday.  All the Indy Burn teams play in Carmel this weekend and PSC Rec Plus teams play "away" Sunday.

Construction of the Mary & John Geisse Soccer Complex began in Spring 2004 and continues to today.  As you visit this season, you will see construction along West 56th Street and through a north soccer field.  T
he Indianapolis Department Public Works is creating a West 56th Street entrance/exit and also plans a drainage project that begins now and continues through Spring 2012.  See plans here. http://www.pikesoccerclub.org/documents/56th%20Entrance%20070611%20page%207%20&%208.pdf  DPW, to help drainage in the area, will replace culverts under W. 56th Street and under the trail north of 56th and install storm drains on both sides of the safety mound. After additional grading, water will flow into the new storm drain and be carried south in a storm pipe to the existing intake in the SW corner of the Soccer Tots fields. The existing storm drains collect water from the main south parking lot and water flows into Pond One. The three detention ponds are connected underground.

We will keep you posted on progress.  Suffice it to say, though, please walk around the construction zone.  If you decide to cross through it to/from training and the parking lot, please use extreme caution and look for open ditches.  It is not known now how long any particular stretch of trench will remain open while the contractor installs the storm drain.  Please do not cross the caution tape.

MJGSC "Master Plan" drawings are for illustration and planning purposes only and are not final. Changes will occur. For example, the Drop Off area was eliminated for safety reasons. The entrance from 56th Street was dropped as the less safe alternative. Future Multi Use Facility (shown here in its planned location) and additional phases may be built as funding becomes available.
